More walnuts than you can shake a cucumber at..

Well it's July 15, 2015.... I have owned my property for two years. I moved here 11 months ago. I completed my house design by November. Construction started in January. House is finished......?

The living room appears complete...

The kitchen looks complete....

Almost done around the wood stove platform. The fireplace guy called today asking if he can come and take a look... Referred to my contractor. 

Hallway almost done. Still no cable down in bathroom and shower walls not done yet.

Pile of tiles not yet in place for washer/ dryer corner.

Outside the yellow plums almost look ready. I picked some, but they still need a little longer...

Apples progressing well.

There are even some nice looking walnuts... More than last year!

I only picked a couple of buckets of plums.

Look I picked my cucumber, I wonder if any more will grow. I don't see any others yet...

Still waiting on zucchini...

Hopefully perfect light.

I went shopping today. I picked up some ceiling fans, a couple of electrical receptions with USB plug ins and (I hope, a perfect) outside deck LED light.. By the time I returned to my town, and then to site, the crew were gone for the day.

It does not appear too much was done today.... I think many tiles were cut and that takes quite a time. 

It also appears a few tiles were taken up, to be replaced. I think floor guy said they did not sit flush or something. On the cardboard I see his cut sheet check sheet, and to the left some skinnier tiles.

That little pile is most probably for the wall edge.

And then, although there are no mats down, I bet the little piles are the tiles needed for this washer/dryer space.

And a few stacked around here as well.

The cable is not down in the bathroom yet.

I picked a couple of test plums today and might pick more tomorrow. I probably should empty the tree by the weekend.

Crew a bit edgy??

On Saturday I came by to check on things... 

Look a cucumber... It still needs to grow a bit me thinks!

My first of most likely a few zucchini.

Inside the floor crew were working...

The front room is coming along.

The yellow plum tree is on daily inspection... They are almost an orange when they are ripe - if I remember correctly. The deer continue to disturb some, but no signs of any bears... Yet.

Alright Monday....

My bedroom is now a bit of a storage room....

And this is because the bathroom is now getting primed!!

The same tile will carry through in the bathroom, but the shower will be different, as will the walls around shower and tub.

I left for a few hours....

Because I asked a question or two and was asked to leave by floor guy so as not to bug him! Ha, banished again!

Anyhow the mats are down.

The front room is oh so close to being done... Just a few edge pieces.

Okay and the wood stove corner....

Almost time to start the kitchen! 

The house has a good empty house echo ... echo.. echo..

Baby green.

I dropped by the site late in the day and the floor crew were just cleaning up.  

Front room is looking great! Once again, you can see the wires have yet to be pulled up inside the wall.

Mats are down close to the wood stove. Even if there is no cable underneath that close to the wood stove, the floor still needs to be level.

The sides and top do not need mats. There will be some contrasting tile on the rise, but the same floor tile on the top. The wee wood stove will be black... as one may have expected.

I stood inside for awhile looking around trying to imagine my furniture, the colours that will be there and imagining what colour the walls might want to be....  

The baseboards will be simple.. something like 1 by 3 planks.

The crew said they would back tomorrow- Saturday! 

Time to finish up the front room?

Or perhaps the washer/ dryer nook....

I know the bathroom will eventually get done... But it will have to be emptied out first!

Here is the view from the hole in the wall. (The not so secret access from my bedroom closet to a kitchen cupboard void). One of the floor crew utilized this as a way to move from the back of the house to the front room as the tiles were fresh on the floor in the hall area. That is the living room!

Meanwhile in the green house.... A baby green pepper.

Not much to say today.... Front room about 1/2 done. 

Not sure if they will finish tomorrow. I suspect they will be finished except for the edge pieces that need to be cut. 

I would think another week on the floor... Grout still as well. 

Door frames, window sills and baseboards....

Did not spend too much time in the yard. Watched the robins for a little while.

Maybe he thought my garden gloves was another another bird.

Plum'n in a week?

A few more pictures of the basement without the worker bees...

Cold room on left and the bathroom room on the right. 

The cold room will get finished with more insulation, dry wall, vents to outside and a door. The water heater will go in the back in the middle. The bathroom will remain much the same as it is now... with wiring in place.

Upstairs .. Here is a better view of how far the in floor heat goes towards the woodstove area.

Thinset down over the mat and cable.

And here is a good portion of the living room floor completed. The whole floor was covered in thinset before the floor crew left.

Outside the yellow plums are getting real close to ready.... Thinking within the week...?

Here you can see the apples and hazelnuts looking good. They have another month or two to go. Out front the walnuts are growing nice and back near the greenhouse I eagarly await the figs to ripen.

It has been a bit crazy this year with all the warm weather.

Things are almost clear and the sun has made an appearance.

A step above

So where are we at on a Tuesday evening...?

Floor guy did not come by on Sunday. Forest fire smoke blew into town turning the morning into an eerie orange Martian world, or at least a 1960's TV idea of Mars. The afternoon everything was just grey and thick. The only critters that stirred were the deer of course. In the last few days I have picked up almost 100 yellow- albeit green plums from the ground. Some nibbled, others just knocked off the branches. The lettuce got another trim, as did the fennel. I had tried to lay out some smelly oregano, but that did faze them.

I have saved many wood scraps throughout the build- the shed is full. And as I have mentioned I have trimmed back the hazelnut tree and the cut pine branches from the front (hydro cut). He here is my twig stash....

On Monday floor guy tested up the the new cable, vacuumed the floor and put down the cable.

You can see the two cable sensors in place.. one is a back up. The mat is just protecting the floor and cable from visitors.... That whole banished thing did not hold up, ha!

But as you may have noticed from the corner above, not the best layout... Leaving a blank spot.

The other cable was too long, this is the next shorter. Perhaps a more strategic layout....? The blank on the right is beneath kitchen counters, that's okay.

Anyhow Tuesday saw many workers back on site, contractor included. My woodstove platform is in place.... It is a very small woodstove.. for a small house! 

I did not take a good picture to show the cable, but it was sorta rearranged to span a bit more floor.

You can see it closer to the stove on the right, and below you can just see a teeny tiny bit. There is still a cable void behind he door where a wood box will sit anyhow.

Downstairs, all the stud walls are in place for the cold room and the unfinished bathroom, this is the bathroom below. It is framed to receive a pocket door.

Same area of the room.. But from father away.

Below the crew is working on the cold room insulation. I decided to blot out one guy's face rather than ask him if he cared if he was in my blog. 

You can see that the electrical boxes are all in place in the basement.

It's getting there.....when will I move in? 

Your guess is as good as mine. Upstairs floor another 3/4 days. Bathroom, kitchen, woodstove. Downstairs more insulation, wiring, drywall.... A few doors, ceiling fans.....
