If it is not alright, it is not yet the end.

It was a busy morning with emails from my contractor with more budget notes.
And then there was the appointment at the financial institution... I think everything is working out.

There were many goals set with the move under the plum trees...
I have attained most of them, but the budget plan kinda went out the window. So much for mortgage free...... oh well, it's doable. And there are more exciting things to come.

Meanwhile work continues in the bathroom with more Kerdi board around the tub.
The side of the tub is plywood because it will get the Ditra mat and cable and that cannot go on top of the Kerdi board- styrofoam basically. The base of the shower has a different styrofoam composition, so it will be okay with the cable on top.

Sadly I will miss an update tomorrow, as I am traveling overnight and will not be back until late Saturday. And it's a long weekend... So the crew will probably not be back at until Tuesday.

More friends came by to pick yellow plums.... Still more on the tree. I think on Sunday I will pull the rest..many of which will have fallen as they are oh so ripe. I think this last bunch might just go to friends chickens.

Oh my....

I believe the flash went on this picture which it is why it looks a bit washed out.
Regardless... oh my goodness the floor is done. Wood stove ... Tomorrow?
And the shocks continues... The bathroom is underway! Here is the shower stall before the wall tile with the fancy Schluter Kerdi board. You can see it is screwed in a bit different than drywall. That is an indent for the shampoo...
There is the tap. The shower head will be a handheld gadget thingie on an adjustable bar.
The bathtub has been removed to get at things... To do the walls and the little side decking.
Where did the bathtub go you might ask....In the kitchen! It is a Kohler Greek tub. It is only 4 ft in length, but 23 inches deep. I have a pillow that comes with it.
Wood stove, cabinets, trim.... It could all start tomorrow.... But I think that would be asking a lot.
Still no sign of my Sun Country Highway level two electric car charger... Hopefully shipped next week.

Figuratively speaking....

Here is a picture from the weekend..a little 'flutter by' in the oregano.
Monday ended with only half of the corner complete.
In these pics the cream riser does not really look great. Nice edging though.
Hoping that different light will enhance the colour a bit more.
And by today the rest of the front room was grouted. Yea!
Can you picture the little wood stove in the corner? Soon....!
And that would be after it gets grouted.
Don't worry, floor guy will take up the green painter's tape.
I figure things are shaping up.
Speaking of figs.... It was a good harvest today. Not included are the ones I ate!
There are many more up there!
The ripe ones went home and into the dehydrator.

It was like a helicopter.

Its Friday.
Work continued in the basement. The wiring (for the plugins, pot lights, smoke detector) is almost done.
Upstairs the riser has been tiled. Still the top to do and then grout everywhere from the expansion joint over.
Again its a creamy white colour.

Outside it was another "I am not picking plums" day. I suspect I best get them this weekend!
I did trim the branches a bit so that I do not have to duck quite as much when I walked underneath.
I decided to take down my 'deer deterrent" mess between the greenhouse and the shed... as it was not deterring the deer. Things are a bit cleaner now. That is my rotten plum/ branch compost pile. It will have to be moved at some point when I establish a proper compost. For that matter that wood pile will move some day as well.

And this mess around the corner behind the greenhouse will get cleaned up and dug out as well. I suspect I will do this before/when I put in a fence.

Right now its just a matter of cutting back the blackberry mess. It will be hard to keep too clean with the neighbours compost next to the fence.
More pretty blooms.

And these weeds on the south side of the house by the Italian plum trees.
..... where I have two plums growing!
They are very pretty.
They might be the same weeds I dug out of the greenhouse last year.

Fig study...

I was on site in the morning as were my contractor, the floor guy and another appraisal guy.
I stopped back later at the end of the day to snap a few pics... Baby steps...
I am not sure if the expansion joint was in place by the bathroom before or was it put in today?
The riser tiles were cut and the platform was prepped for tiling. The top tiles will be put down in a different direction than the floor... In line with the corner.
The hallway and half the front room was wiped down and buffed from the grouting. From afar it looks more like cement blocks than wood planks. In person... It looks sharp.
A bit more like wood here.
In the basement the wiring has begun...
And the LED pot lights are going in.
All the installed lights in the house inside and out will be LEDs.

Outside I should be picking plums...
But instead I am just eating plums while studying the fig tree. It's hard to find all the figs in the tree as I eagerly await the figs ripening.

No bear with me....

I arrived at the house today to find signs on the doors telling me not to walk on the floors. My contractor had told me that once the grout was down it would be okay, but floor guy obviously wants dry time... So here I am outside looking in. The hallway is done.
The living room is done.
Here is my warning sign...
This is my reach around, but not step inside look see... The kitchen side is not yet done.
Nothing over the line is done.... But much was done!
Outside... Under the plum tree life is good.
You can see many of the lower plums have been picked.
But soooooo many are left. They look ready and yes I could pick more except my fridge is full.
I have in the last two years picked them even later, so all is well.
Still no sign of bears on the property this year.
And how about them apples.....

Maybe a hot tub....

On the present home front... The jamming has begun.
I really do not want to make 10 batches this year as I did last year and I am encouraging friends to pick my yellow plums. So far I have made two batches and my fridge is so full there is no space for other food. I might freeze some and make more jam later.
I also have another idea on how to yellow plum..secret for now.

I have eaten two figs so far this year, but most are still far from ripe. It is still quite dry and hot, everyone wants water... But we are in super conserve mode.

I am busy most days now, which is indeed good for the financial situation. Less time to play in the yard, though. I am so eager to live in my house for many reasons, one of which is so playing in the yard means walking out the door.

Today I stopped by the site near clean up time and chatted with floor guy. The wood stove area is getting done. I gave my contractor license to pick the contrasting tile for the rise of the raised corner. He has chosen a creamy white colour. Again the top will be the regular floor tile. Floor guy said it should done by the end of the week so wood stove guy can get going on Monday.
The bedroom with a clean floor... The lighting makes the hallway tile look different.. It's not.
The clean den floor.
The bathroom has begun! .... The cable is too long at this point, but we may be able to get creative. It may work out for the cable to go down on the shower floor and up the side of the bathtub... Which would keep the tub hotter... It may work out.
And that's all for a Tuesday.

Picked plums later on, then friends came by to help pick plums, then another friend rode by and took plums home on the back of her bike! Plum tuckered out for the night.

Not on the menu.

I picked a few plums on the weekend... And so did this guy...
He also ate all my lettuce and my fennel.
I ate my first grown zucchini though.

Today the grouting was done in the bedroom and the den. It still needs to be wiped clean, but I like it.
Not much to add in pictures.

I suspect tomorrow will most likely be grouting the hallway or part of the front room. At some point the window frames and door frames are put in.

I saw this in bloom...
Guess the deer don't like to eat it!

Progress is progress. Not tiny, but small.

Today's progress.....
Laundry area tiled.... Check
Hallway completed ... Check (Sorry for the sideways picture)
Threshold to bedroom with small filler tiles in place... Check.

Same thing for the den doorway... Check.
It was Friday and floor guy was just cleaning up when I stopped in. Apparently the wood stove guy was by the day before and was given a rough time line from floor guy. He did not contact the contractor.
Next week the grout will go down and the baseboards, windows sills and trim will be installed.

Not sure when the bathroom starts?? And we are also hoping for the kitchen cupboard delivery by the end of the week, but will probably be week after.

Yes it is moving painfully slow, but like a long walk I once took with a sore leg ... Progress is progress.

.... I checked in with my fruits and veggies. Yellow plums are still a little green.
I guess I am growing lettuce for the deer... He was back again!
To town for a few errands then back to take a few more pictures with floor guy gone.

Hallway / den area.
Hallway / bedroom area

The front room.
TV on that wall, table below. Notice the expansion joint in the floor.
The view from the woodstove corner.

And looking back at that corner.
Looking outside the picture window... Focusing on outside.
Same view focusing on inside.
And a look out the slider by the wood stove corner.
It may look big on the outside, but as you can see on the inside its small. Not tiny, but small.
