Animals in the rain

I decided to sleep in abit today and was away by 0900 hrs.  I set off in shorts today.  One step out the door and realized it was cool and on went the jacket.  Two more steps and the rain pants and pack cover were on as well.  It was that kind of day.

For the first part of the day I remembered all that I did not add to my blog the day before.  Oh well.  One thing I did not mention was that I decided it was time to hike in shorts.... out of the city as I was.   My feet were not as warm which was good, however it was easy to have stuff fall down the back of the boot, which was not good.

My feet started out fine today.  No real aches and pains.

Gotta love cobblestone first thing in the morning.

These are happy Portuguese cows.
And happy Portuguese horses
And more cows...
Lots more signage today.
There was some nice soft paths today as well.
Today was a day of not stopping when or where I should have.  With that said breakfast was not until 1100 hrs.
I ordered an American style coffee with no milk and had a bun with ham, and decided that a chocolate covered bun was needed as well.
Lotsa rain today...
And here is a sign showing me where all the albergues are located.  Most cost 5 Eur ... Guess leaving 10 Eur as a donation was too much last night.
This was something once...
There are lots of little irrigation rivers.

This place seems to have some charm. And for sale too.

I have passed some grape vines... Today is deifinitly wine country.
I do like the old stone... Just not walking on it all day.

And close the gate.
And this is the nice church that let me use the washroom.  Thank God indeed!
More sheepies....
I am getting tired now.  I have just switched the socks again, mole skin between a couple of toes.  Very rocky road next to mini river / irrigation.
This a stone bridge... Bigger stones relief to walk on.
I thought this was a lake, but it was a flooded field.
This is not a picture of a field, but of wonderful countryside and a hill in the distance which I surely will have to climb.
Pretty shot...
I like the blue door.

So let's re cap.... Today's walk is about 20km, of which I may have about 5 km more.  It's sometime around 1500 hrs.  It's been raining all day, with a few breaks.  My feet are tired and the only food I have eaten was at 1100 hrs.. And not much.  ... But I am relatively dry, am not really hungry and my feet tell me there is no way I am walking 100 m in the wrong direction.
Usually only one thing stands out the most ... Pain in a foot, pain in legs, or the need to use the washroom and that voice is the loudest.  I was relatively happy except my feet/ legs were tired.

I kept seeing road signs, Caminho signs, and I even asked a couple of people.  No one seems to know where Lugar de Corgo is.
I
just have to keep walking,  I will find it.

But I am very tired and the path appears to take me through 'nothing' as the boy from the church had said.

Olive trees...
...Some type of industry...
My legs are tired, my feet are very tired, it's still pouring rain and then there it is at last!!
I had a quick thought maybe I was supposed to phone, maybe no one is home.  Then I saw a man in the yard who  let his wife Fernanda know I had arrived.
I asked if I could stay and was told yes and led to the dorm in the garden area with a covered a patio ... And two small black kittens- the welcoming committee!
I have new friends!
There was one lad there on his way to Fatima (of course, as everyone I meet seem to be going the other way).
He was from Germany.

I had a shower, and sat outside with the cats and then another guy walked in. Another German, living in Paris, who was actually traveling my way, to Santiago! And then another fella from Portugal on his way to Fatima, again.  He said he had stayed here 7 or 8 times.

It was a good group for a lively conversation at dinner with great food.

Great conversations, great food, homemade wine, port, homemade 'firewater'.   Super nice people!  Fernanda invited me to stay in the house, to be more comfortable and she even gave me a foot massage.

The clothes are drying by the wood stove, my belly is full and I am tired.

Barcelos to Lugar de Corga ... 20 km
