For the first part of the day I remembered all that I did not add to my blog the day before. Oh well. One thing I did not mention was that I decided it was time to hike in shorts.... out of the city as I was. My feet were not as warm which was good, however it was easy to have stuff fall down the back of the boot, which was not good.
My feet started out fine today. No real aches and pains.
These are happy Portuguese cows.
And happy Portuguese horses
Today was a day of not stopping when or where I should have. With that said breakfast was not until 1100 hrs. I ordered an American style coffee with no milk and had a bun with ham, and decided that a chocolate covered bun was needed as well.
And here is a sign showing me where all the albergues are located. Most cost 5 Eur ... Guess leaving 10 Eur as a donation was too much last night.
I am getting tired now. I have just switched the socks again, mole skin between a couple of toes. Very rocky road next to mini river / irrigation.
This is not a picture of a field, but of wonderful countryside and a hill in the distance which I surely will have to climb.
So let's re cap.... Today's walk is about 20km, of which I may have about 5 km more. It's sometime around 1500 hrs. It's been raining all day, with a few breaks. My feet are tired and the only food I have eaten was at 1100 hrs.. And not much. ... But I am relatively dry, am not really hungry and my feet tell me there is no way I am walking 100 m in the wrong direction.
Usually only one thing stands out the most ... Pain in a foot, pain in legs, or the need to use the washroom and that voice is the loudest. I was relatively happy except my feet/ legs were tired.
I kept seeing road signs, Caminho signs, and I even asked a couple of people. No one seems to know where Lugar de Corgo is.
But I am very tired and the path appears to take me through 'nothing' as the boy from the church had said.
Olive trees...
My legs are tired, my feet are very tired, it's still pouring rain and then there it is at last!!
I had a quick thought maybe I was supposed to phone, maybe no one is home. Then I saw a man in the yard who let his wife Fernanda know I had arrived.
I asked if I could stay and was told yes and led to the dorm in the garden area with a covered a patio ... And two small black kittens- the welcoming committee!
There was one lad there on his way to Fatima (of course, as everyone I meet seem to be going the other way).
He was from Germany.
I had a shower, and sat outside with the cats and then another guy walked in. Another German, living in Paris, who was actually traveling my way, to Santiago! And then another fella from Portugal on his way to Fatima, again. He said he had stayed here 7 or 8 times.
It was a good group for a lively conversation at dinner with great food.
Great conversations, great food, homemade wine, port, homemade 'firewater'. Super nice people! Fernanda invited me to stay in the house, to be more comfortable and she even gave me a foot massage.
The clothes are drying by the wood stove, my belly is full and I am tired.
Barcelos to Lugar de Corga ... 20 km
