So much for the surprise

Okay 4 hrs of sleep -check.
0600 hrs bus -check
Arrive at airport, check in, have coffee, free wifi by 0700 -check
By 0800 hrs there is an announcement and suddenly everyone gets up to queue.  But it's really the third and final call for Madrid.  Everyone stays in the line, me included.  I am flying Ryanair and it is general seating.   Finally we do board, on time and I get a good seat.  Then four very loud talkative women sit down in front of me, across the aisle from me, and in from and behind the one across for me.  They chatter for the whole flight.... But what about? Office politics, guys? I will never know.

We land on time in Barcelona, and I locate the transport counter when I am advised my driver will be here in 20 minutes... Sit down and have a coffee.

The driver arrives for me, then picks up 9 others at the other terminal and I will be the third drop off.

By1300 hrs I am at my hostel.  I have booked at Feet Up Garden Hostel which is far way from everything in a residential area.  I will have a bunk in a room of 6 females.  This is my street.
I lock up my bag and my host Philippe provides me with a map and directions of places where I should visit.
The H is my hostel, the L3 and L5 are my closest subway lines.   The pink area is where I can get a good cheap meal.
So on this map below ... The hostel is way up on the right.  The stadium- Camp Nou is to the left and all the other cool stuff I should see he has highlighted for me.
I head out for a walk...
I go to the restaurant where Phillipe advises and the guy says no go here next door.  I try and order a typical Spanish meal ... Without fish of course.  Here is what I get...
It was really good.  It just was however not cheap, or maybe it was as I am in the big city now.  Two million people in Barcelona I am told.  I find a subway stop afterwards...
There are quite a lot of different lines...
I get off at the right station and follow the crowd.  I buy myself a scarf.  For some reason I choose one that is mostly orange despite the colours being blue with red.
Dessert is popcorn and a coke.  I find my seat!  It cost an arm and a leg and the reason I am staying in a hostel.... And here is my great view!!
The boys come out to warm up.  Messi is out with injury, but despite what I heard Pique and Inesta are playing!
Quick pose..
Then a few minutes later they come back out ready to play!  That's a group of the young Barca kids league I think...
Stadium is not full... But there lots here.

The game begins....
A couple of free kicks...

We win 4-0!!  Yea!
Then I head off to see a fountain light show... I guess I am on the correct street.
At one point I asked a couple .. Is this the right way to the light show?  Oops he was taking her as a surprise, which I just wrecked.  Oh well.
It was cool!

But really it was cold. I forgot to bring my toque from the hotel.
Back on the subway and I had to ask to find my street .. But finally home and tucked into bed.

Ear plugs in, good night.
